Happy Birthday Canada

The Association of Cubans Resident in Toronto "Juan Gualberto Gómez" celebrates with legitimate pride Canada's 146th birthday. Cubans in Canada have found another homeland with people with values and ethical principles very close to ours. We found another home in Canada and appreciate the hospitality and friendship of this country that today we call also ours.

We can't think of Canada without thinking of the great Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, a loyal friend of Cuba and its struggle, whose vision for a better world forged the idea of a multicultural Canada, where people from around the world could find a place to live regardless of their ethnicity, political beliefs, gender, race or preferences. Pierre Trudeau, in our opinion, is the essence of the man of the future.

Today, we are all proud to showcase the world a society that is accepting, where everybody really belongs, and where people from all latitudes live in peace and harmony, loving and respecting each other regardless of our differences.

Thank you Canada for your immense generosity.

We wish that Canada continue to be a friend of Cuba, and the relations between the two countries flourish and last for ever.
