On behalf of the Association of Cubans in Toronto thank you very much for joining us on this occasion to commemorate the second anniversary of the physical loss of Fidel, Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution.

Cuba is today a sovereign country respected and recognized globally as a referent for human development.

Despite the ferocious and continued aggression of the United States of America, Cuba enjoys indexes of development similar, and in many cases superior, to the so-called “First World” countries in health care, education, scientific research, gender equality, just to mention a few.

As an active member of the international community Cuba stands out for its generosity and solidarity, cooperating with many countries in diverse fields, sharing what it has without any conditions.

All of that was only possible because there was a Fidel, who dedicated his wisdom, and his many talents to the construction and strengthening of the Revolution.

From Fidel we learned that the first duty of a revolutionary is to make the Revolution wherever we may find ourselves.

We believe that the best way to honor Fidel is to make Revolution.

We can make Revolution in different manners.

When we stand up against the US blockade on Cuba, we are making Revolution.

When we demand the return of Guantánamo to its rightful owner, the people of Cuba, we are making Revolution.

When we defend Cuba’s sovereignty and its right to self-determination, we are making Revolution.

When we protest injustice, in any of its forms or shapes, be it the case of Venezuela, Nicaragua or Palestine, we are making Revolution.

And even, when at the personal level, we become better human beings, we are still making Revolution.

And when we make Revolution, we are honoring Fidel.

Viva Cuba Libre

Viva por siempre Fidel
